Why a Private Career College? A message to International Students coming to Canada

Author: Jagpreet Puri

There are many highly reputed Private Career Colleges (PCC) in Canada who provide educational programs that teach skills most employers in Canada are looking for. As discussed in my previous blog, they can be highly beneficial for international students who are seeking a suitable job-oriented education program in Canada.

The small classroom sizes offered in these Private Career Colleges provide a comfortable environment to learn, understand concepts, and easily reach out and connect with the teachers. For some international students, this environment maybe be easier to cope with instead of attending a Public College, as each person’s learning style varies.

As the market is quickly changing, it is essential for students to learn and develop skills that are demanded by the continuously evolving business institutions. PCC’s have the ability to quickly get approval for new courses from the Ministry of Education & Training, that target the development of said skills that numerous employers are searching for.

All PCC’s registered with the Ministry have now been included in the list of Designated Learning Institutions for accepting international students. However, it is important to reiterate that the international students must research and find the best program suited to their career goals before getting admission in any College or University in Canada. This is required in order to minimize difficulties in finding an eligible job after completion of their study program.

Keep in mind that even if the College is registered with the Ministry, the student must them self confirm if the program is approved by the Ministry and if it will enable them to be eligible to get a post-graduate work permit after the completion of that program.

Another added benefit of PCC’s is the fact that most of their programs have mandatory placement included within their curriculum. Hands-on work experience is something sought by all employers, thus allows students to differentiate themselves from other applicants.

I have founded, operated and managed a Private Career College in Ontario for more than 7 years and understand the struggle international students can go through when they arrive in Canada to study. If you have an questions regarding studying in a PCC or its benefits, feel free to contact me, and I will be glad to reply back.
