Investment Programs – Get Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Author: Jagpreet Puri

Many countries around the world have an amazing standard of peaceful living, a pollution free multicultural environment and a strong economic foundation for starting a business and enjoying life.

If you have ever dreamt of becoming a Global Citizen who can enjoy a greater freedom of mobility, better quality of life, education, business opportunities and more with your family in 100-150 countries, get a piece of paper ready because you do not want to miss out on the names of a few countries mentioned below.

First and foremost, lets talk about Canada. Canada is a marvellous country to immigrate to and settle down in, to make your home. There are a couple of Investor and Entrepreneur programs available to immigrate to Canada including the Quebec Investor Program and some Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) for Entrepreneurs.

However, if you have a high net worth and are doing extremely well in your home country but want to be a Global Citizen, there are a few countries who offer Permanent Residency. Other countries also offer Citizenship directly through Investment Programs. Investment in some countries can be done via secured government bonds or investment in real estate.

Most of these later programs, comparatively, have a faster processing time ranging from 4-6 months. Many do not even have stringent residency requirements such as staying in that country for a minimum number of days each year.

For example, if you want to get Permanent Residency in Hungary for your family (you can get PR for your parents along with yourself), you must go to Budapest 2 times for 1-2 days only. Furthermore, there are no physical residency requirements either. The benefit? You and your family can now travel visa free in 152 countries in the European Union and Schengen Zone countries, with your current base in your home country. After a few years, you and your family can get a Citizenship of Hungary as well, to become Global Citizens.

Countries like Antigua & Barbuda and Grenada give Citizenships to the entire family if you invest in that country. In some cases, your parents may also get Citizenship within a few months’ timeframe. With a Grenadian passport, the USA under the E2 treaty, allows Grenadian Citizens to operate a substantial business and reside in the USA. In addition to this, you can travel visa free to more than 117 countries including Europe’s Schengen Zone countries. Similarly, with a passport of Antigua & Barbuda, you can travel visa free to 124 countries including Canada, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong and Europe’s Schengen Zone countries.

However, if you are exclusively looking to get a USA Green Card through an Investor Program, the EB-5 program is still available. It may take a long time to get a Green Card for residents of some countries like China, as there is an overflow of applications from China. Nevertheless, for countries like India and many others, it is a fast process which can possibly take less than one year in some instances.
